Volkswagen Audi EastLondon

WINNER: SHOSPEC PTY LTD NTT VOLKSWAGEN & AUDI EAST LONDON

With Audi having a new role out of corporate spec worldwide, this project was for a new ± 2000m² Audi showroom in East London. Shospec were responsible for the curved interior walls, bulkheads, skimmed ceilings and metal pan ceilings, a project which they found immensely technical and challenging.

With 3 curved walls at a 60⁰ incline, this pushed their design and fitting teams to new heights. These are walls of approximately 20Lm in length and 4.5 to 6,5mm in height with light pockets and large openings in places.

Installing and designing a 400mm deep self-supported wall substructure had its structural and design challenges as most of the walls are self-supporting. Suspended ceilings and bulkheads were mostly curved at wall junctions with a shadow line perimeter cornice. Most suspended ceilings have a non-standard metal mesh tiles and grey celling grid which was sourced from Taiwan with an 8 week lead time.
