WINNER: AVONMORE SPAR
Bulk excavation to form basement. Retaining wall on 9th Avenue elevation. Piled foundation with pile caps and ground beams. Coffered deck to ground floor. 4 ramps and post-tension parking decks. External cladding. Lift shaft and stair case to roof level. Basement was the extension to the existing spar. Section of the ground floor is the new Tops bottle store.
The building took up 100% of the site and a lot of co-ordination had to take place with regards to deliveries of steel, concrete, formwork and all supplies. Pavement space had to be rented to erect a small tower crane to handle the lifting of concrete, rebar and formwork. All the decks were pumped and planning had to be done with traffic dept as we had to partially close the road. Penetron waterproofed concrete was used in the retaining walls and slabs. Once the basement formwork was stripped out the services to the surface beds were installed and the surface bed cast. The floor tiling and electrical and air-conditioning services were installed. We then broke through to the existing Spar which was fully operational during construction.
