Garlington

WINNER: DTB CONTRACTING - LOT 424 GARLINGTON

The scope of work on this project was to construct five double storey semi-detached townhouses in Garlington Estate. The estate poses several challenges with the strict rules that are imposed on contractors from the developer that limit the hours of work while also restricting work on weekends. The position of the estate in a mist belt and the pressure of inclement weather pose further challenges that need to be overcome.

The soil conditions allowed for traditional strip foundations though extra depth was required with a G5 sub base. The walls are a conventional brick and plaster finish painted white with wooden roof trusses and corrugated chromodek roof sheeting. The double storey slab was of block and beam construction with windows and doors being aluminium. The units were designed as “spec” houses with the finishes to suit including flooring which are a combination of carpets and tiles.
